Patience and Working Hard

March 31, 2011

I don’t know about you but when I decide I want to do something I generally go for it. Having decided when I was 16 that I wanted to become a police officer I couldn’t wait to get going. Yet there is the wise old saying ‘all good things come to those who wait.” That’s what I had to do. Qualifications first and then career.
It was sound advice and as it happens you cannot become a police officer until you are 20 years old anyway. In fact it is important to ensure you are fully prepared before applying for a law enforcement job. For one thing you need to have earned at the very least a high school diploma. At state or federal level you need to have a college degree.

These are the prerequisites. When you apply to become a police officer, no matter what state you live in, you will have to pass a series of exams such as the National Police Officer Selection Test. These test the brain and the body. When I say test, I mean really test! Don’t go out partying late the night before one of the exams. You’ll need your wits about you. Then what would you expect for candidates hoping to be law enforcers in their district…an easy ride? Police Prof have examples of questions for candidates on the website, so they can test themselves before sitting the real exam.
